The Perfect Sydney Seaside Wedding Venue: Eva + Tim's Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel Wedding
More than just amazing views of Sydney harbour in a beautiful location of Australia: aptly named Sunset Room, this hamptons style function space features ceiling windows giving you and your guests unrestricted views of Australia’s best harbour
Some wedding venues are just that; a venue. But some wedding event spaces, such as the Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel, inspire excitement. And this is exactly how we felt when Eva + Tim mentioned to us that they were going to have their wedding reception at Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel. We just knew that their wedding day was going to have plenty of awesome moments that would require our complete attention.
About Watsons Bay
Watsons Bay is a destination by itself.
People from all over the world come to Watsons Bay to visit Macquarie Lighthouse, Vaucluse House, Nielsen Park, Camp Cove, Milk Beach, Hornby Lighthouse, and walk the Federation Cliff Walk. These all happen to be great spots for bridal photos.
Watsons Bay Wedding Ceremony Options
Robertson Park is probably the most popular spot for an outdoor wedding ceremony. Typically held under the fig tree, Sydney harbour serves as a natural backdrop for your special day. You may book your Robertson Park wedding ceremony through Woollahra Municipal Council.
For religious wedding ceremonies, Watsons Bay offers a number of options. Eva + Tim chose The Catholic Parish of Our Lady Star of the Sea. Other churches in the immediate area include St Peter’s Anglican Church, and HMAS Watson Chapel. These three are great for keeping your wedding day logistics centralised minimising the time wasted in transit (read: more time for champagne and fun!).
Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel offers a handy wet weather option as a harbour view wedding ceremony venue. The Top Deck event space has a retractable roof and its own private bar. Eva + Tim made use of this space by hosting canapé hour for their guests while the Sunset Room was undergoing its final styling touches.
Before And On The Wedding Day Tips
One of the best things about this popular seaside wedding spot is that there is free parking in the area. But be aware that there are limited spots available, especially on weekends.
Your guests can arrive by public transport by either hopping on a ferry from Circular Quay or Manly or taking one of many buses that service the area.
Most couples who have a Watsons Bay wedding check-in to Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel the afternoon before. There are a range of hotel suites to choose from at the Watsons Bay Hotel. The loft rooms are popular as are the Grand Harbour Suites for the perfect relaxed morning. Eva & Tim each reserved a Grand Harbour Suite and a Harbour Apartment Suite so that the Eva and her bridesmaids could get ready uninterrupted photos of them preparing for the big day (and similarly for Tim and his groomsmen).
Free wifi and continental breakfast is included for hotel guests. According to their website, check-in time is typically available from 2pm and if you are having your wedding reception at Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel, you can probably ask for an extended check-out time the day after.
Our Review of Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel – ★★★★★
This Sydney wedding venue gets a lot of things right.
For starters, its location in Sydney makes it a winning choice already. Coupled with the fact that the Sunset Room is exactly as the name promises, this is probably our favourite seaside wedding reception venue picks.
The hotel suites are spacious and provide million dollar views of what makes Australia iconic. And since accommodation is right there, we highly recommend Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel for a stress-free wedding day experience.
With amazing views of Sydney harbour and plenty of nearby beautiful locations minutes away either by car or by foot, this is the ideal place to celebrate your big day.
PS – the best time of year for a Watsons Bay wedding is from April.

Unlike other Sydney wedding photography studios, we do not offer wedding photography packages.
Because every couple is different and so are their needs, budget and priorities. For example, some couples want a pre-wedding session while others do not. Some couples want their special moments printed in their very own fine art wedding album while others just want their wedding day memories in digital forma.
This is why we prefer to tailor a service that fits with your requirements.
Generally speaking, wedding photography starts from $4,000 and wedding videography starts from $4,500.
Tell us your budget and we’ll see what we can do for you.
How Many Wedding Photos Will We Receive?
Eva + Tim received 2,254 final images, each individually selected and edited purposefully.
We don’t place a limit on the number of photos that we will take nor will we limit the number of images that we will edit and deliver to you.
We believe that quality moments that have been taken with purpose outweighs sheer volume of average images.
Ultimately, the number of images that you will receive will depend on the length of photography coverage and the scale of your wedding. From a typical 12-hour wedding day, you can expect a minimum of 800 beautiful moments captured in image form.
How Many Wedding Films Will We Receive?
Angus Porter approaches wedding videography unlike any other wedding videography vendor in the industry. In fact, we only offered wedding films because we were frustrated with what the lacklustre industry standard.
For a recent client of ours, we produced a total of thirteen (13) short films for them. Some were documentary style edits (i.e., full speeches, wedding ceremony in full) while the remainder were individual summaries for different parts of their wedding day (e.g., tea ceremony, door games, reception).
The number of wedding films that you will receive will depend on your budget.
As a rule of thumb, we will always strive to deliver at least one summary of your wedding day as well as a documentary style cut of your wedding ceremony in full.

We hate waiting ourselves. You probably hate waiting too, especially when it comes to wanting to relive your wedding day memories.
For our wedding photography-only clients, we typically deliver wedding photos 31-days after the wedding date.
For our wedding videography-only clients, we typically deliver wedding films in 45-days.
