Mosman’s Taronga Zoo has been a favourite destination for Sydney locals and international visitors – and for good reason given the views of the Sydney harbour, Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge – it’s even better for wedding photos and as a function centre for your wedding reception
Maddy + Harry needed a reception venue that would comfortable seat 140 guests on their special day. With family travelling from other parts of the world and Australia, they wanted a reception venue with a view of Sydney harbour. Taronga Centre made perfect sense.
With access to the zoo grounds and breathtaking views for their wedding guests to enjoy during drinks and canapés on the terrace outside of the Harbourview Ballroom, it was the perfect location for the last part of their wedding day celebrations.
To be honest, we don’t love the low ceiling of the function room but the floor-to-ceiling windows more than make up for it. With the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge in the background of their wedding photos, we quite like this wedding reception venue.
Our Review of Taronga Centre as a Wedding Reception Venue ★★★★
A function centre is a function centre.
Taronga Centre by Epicure is no different but where it shines is the view it offers from its Harbourivew Ballroom and Harbourview Terrace.
As wedding photographers and videographers, having access to Taronga Zoo grounds as part of your wedding package allows for unique photo opportunities. No other Sydney wedding venue offers interaction with elephants and giraffes (although their cooperativeness is not guaranteed).
The best time of year for a Taronga Zoo wedding is probably in spring and autumn. That is, when the daylight hours are shorter meaning that you can get full advantage of sunset bridal photos before going inside to enjoy the party. Given the amount of walking that is required for bridal photos on the zoo grounds, we recommend avoiding Taronga Centre for summer weddings.
