Weddings at Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel
Situated in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, you can get married nearby, have your wedding reception here, and stay overnight in the luxury accommodation upstairs.
About The Venue
Originally owned by Peter Doyle, Arthur Laundry and Fraser Short took over the reigns of Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel in 2012 and have since turned it into an upmarket, Hamptons vibe, and highly sought after wedding reception venue.
Prior to this, the establishment has been an icon in the area for 180 years. Oh! And pub and courtyard is dog-friendly!
Perfect for marrying couples, the venue has 32 light-filled nautical rooms for your guests to choose from. Of these, the Grand Harbour Suite or Grand Harbour Terrace Suite are must-haves.
🐵 Can we have our wedding ceremony here?
More popular as a wedding reception destination, you may talk to the event manager to see if you may host your wedding at Top Deck. With a retractable roof and harbour views, Top Deck is a great wet weather proof wedding ceremony event space.
Alternatively, a very popular spot is underneath the Moreton Bay fig tree found in Robertson Park. Contact Woollahra Municipal Council on (02) 9391 7000 for availability, terms and pricing.
Other noteworthy outdoor wedding ceremony locations around the area include:
- Blackburn Gardens
- Chiswick Gardens
- Vaucluse House
You will also find a number of churches in the area for religious wedding ceremonies.
🙈 Pricing guide
Like most Sydney wedding reception venues, you can expect to pay $160+ per head.
For a 5-hour event, the Sunset Room starts from:
- $179pp (Friday)
- $189pp (Saturday)
- $169pp (Sunday – Thursday)
This includes exclusive use of the Sunset Room and 3-course feast share menu and 4-hour beverage package.
Use the provided enquiry form to get a personalised quote based on your requirements.
🙉 Are there any noise and alcohol curfews?
As a licensed venue, noise and alcohol restrictions tend to be less strict.
The majority of wedding venues situated in residential areas begin to wrap wedding receptions around 11pm with the goal of having all guests vacating their premises by midnight.
Your best bet is to contact Woollahra Council for a definitive answer on noise restrictions. Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel will be able to inform you when alcohol service ends.
🙊 How many seated guests can we have here?
The Sunset Room can cater up to 206 seated guests and The Top Deck can seat up to 90 pax.
FYI, seated capacity does not factor in social distancing rules.
It’s hard to fault Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel.
It delivers on sunset views and waterfront views.
Parking can be a bit restrictive for wedding guests but taxis and Ubers are available to take them safely home.
Having onsite accommodation is a big win – especially if your entire wedding day is centralised within the immediate inner Eastern Suburbs area. This means you can check in 1-2 nights prior and check out a day or two after the big party.
There is no shortage of private locations for beautiful wedding portraits – Camp Cove is a short drive or stroll away.
It’s a big two thumbs up from me!

My wife and I rented our first place in 2016. Then a few years later, wanting to own our own place in Sydney, we began inspecting apartments and learning on-the-fly. On both instances, I quickly realised finding the right information on what to do and when was missing. Thus I began Angus Porter.
